I tweaked some very old menu plans (from 2013) from a variety of months to pull together a month of menu plans for March. Back in 2013 I included my lunch box baking with the evening meals so the shopping lists included this month, also include the ingredients for a savoury and sweet item for the kids’ lunch boxes. I have included those ideas below for you.
NB. Unfortunately my PWK Menu Planner App has been decommissioned and I do miss it terribly. Luckily for me however, as I have posted so many menu plans over the years on the blog, it is super easy for me to head to the archives and find some plans that suit my needs, print them out and I am ready to go! Below I share some ideas for weekly prep and menu plans!
Weekly prep ideas
To help put food in the kids’ lunch boxes I aim to make one savoury and one sweet item on the weekend. Here are some popular recipes from the blog that you might like to try:
Chocolate balls – these are great for kids to make. No cooking required. I often get the kids to make them outside on a sunny afternoon – when kids make them it can get messy!
Easy BLT Rolls – simple Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato Roll is a super easy and tasty lunch box item that you can prepare in advance. Cook up the bacon, chop up the lettuce and tomato then just make them the night before as needed.
Quinoa Snack Balls – a no bake recipe for a tasty snack or lunch box treat. These do take a little bit of time to make, but they are worth it. Recommend making a double batch at a time and freezing some.
Taco parcels – make a double batch of tacos for dinner one night, then use the left over taco meat to make these taco parcels. I have also made them using bolognese sauce as well, so any meat recipe that doesn’t have too much liquid would work.
Oat and seed lunch box slice – made from rolled oats, pepita and chia seeds, this slice is perfect for school lunches tastes delicious.
English muffin pizzas – super easy to make and you can add any left over meat and veg you have in the fridge to boost up the nutrition value of this snack.

- Kombucha – I originally used the recipe from Ivy of Real Food Agenda, I now know it off by heart. Ivy’s site is currently undergoing some updates so you can’t access the recipe at the moment.
Our weekly menu plans for March
As you will see our menu plans are pretty basic. I am to make meal time as enjoyable as possible. The kids have all had input into creating these plans (even if it was a while ago!) and so they all have favourites included. If they don’t really like one meal on the plan, they can always find one of their favourites that they do love. The kids know we all have different tastes and we all have to adapt to the menu.
