Serotonin Eatery is one of my favourite cafes in Melbourne. It isn’t local to me but I wish it was! It is however a midpoint for a close girlfriend and I so makes a convenient meeting place.
The Serotonin Eatery is a plant-based cafe providing foods that regulate neurotransmitters and hormone activity within our bodies, keeping our mood and gut happy. At Serotonin Eatery we encourage mood regulation, allowing you to have more energy to enjoy the activities you love.
Beware that Serotonin is super popular, so if you go at peak times you may need to wait a little. I haven’t had to wait more than 15 minutes though. The website has a little graph and advice on their times which is helpful for planning your visit.
The cafe is beautifully designed and set up. They have indoor and outdoor seating.
The highlight outside being the swings! If it is cold, the super friendly staff offer you blankets so you can still enjoy being outside and not be too cold.
As noted above, it is a plant based menu, so you will find no meat. But you will find super tasty meals that are a twist on the normal cafe fare like:
- Deconstructed Sushi
- Positive Pancakes
- Medicinal Mexican Waffle
The Positive Pancakes are delicious and are made from banana flour and accompanied by banana nice-cream. I didn’t leave a scrap!
Last time I visited I had the Galaxy Acai Bowl which has as a base acai ice cream, with a gluten free granola and a house made magnum inspired nice-cream. It was a warm day, so it was a great option and was so delicious.
Main food items prices range from $15 – $22.
Drinks are a highlight at Serotonin. For someone who isn’t a coffee drinker, your eyes will light up at their gorgeous range of specialty lattes which are all non-caffeinated and served in very cute mugs. I am yet to taste them all but can highly recommend the:
- Golden latte
- Gingerbread latte
- Cacao coconut latte
I love the smiley faces – they make me smile!
They do serve caffeinated drinks too and have a range of non dairy milks all of which are organic and include Bonsoy milk, Macadamia milk, Coconut milk and Almond milk.
You can also have delicious teas, juices, smoothies and even a whole fresh coconut like my friend did last time we were there.
The range of organic raw desserts which are sugar, gluten and dairy free at Serotonin is delightful and beautifully presented. You can choose from options like a:
- Turmeric ice cream sandwich
- Nutty golden sea salt caramel tart
- Raspberry lamington
Prices for desserts range from $8 – $11 and given the quality of ingredients that goes into it, I think they are well priced.
Wednesday + Thursday 8.00am – 3.00pm
Friday 8.00am – 4.00pm

Location and parking:
Serotonin is located at 52 Madden Grove, Burnley. I have always found it easy to get a park with free 4 hour parking available around the cafe.
