Each year I like to make some handmade gifts for friends, family and teachers. I have found though if I leave the making until the end of the year, not so much making gets done!
My daughter and I have embarked on our first project for the year. I had been wanting to do macrame for some time so we decided to give it a go.
I can vaguely remember making a macrame pot hanger when I was in late primary school. It was brown with beads and I thought it was awesome.
I thought this time I would prefer something a little more modern, so my daughter and I chose white cord and not to use beads.
We bought rings, rope, cutter (wouldn’t buy it again as scissors worked better) and a macrame booklet all from Riot Art and Craft.
It only took us a couple of hours from start to finish to make our first pot hangers. Like anything, it is now taking us less time to make them as we have worked out how to do the knots and the like.
I really enjoyed making the macrame pot hanger and it was an excellent activity to do with my daughter as she loved it too.
