Add pudding ingredients in a medium sized bowl and mix together with an electric beater for 1-2 minutes.
Pour into a lightly greased oven proof dish
Place golden syrup and butter into a small saucepan and stir over low heat until butter melts.
Add hot water and stir until well combined.
Pour gently onto pudding mixture.
Place in oven and bake for 30 - 35 minutes.
To check if cooked, make sure the centre is puffed and pudding feels firm when pressed lightly.
Spoon cake and sauce into bowls and serve hot.
NB. The first time I made this pudding, I freaked out a little with how much sauce there was. It does thicken quite quickly as it cools. If you prefer less sauce then reduce the water to about 1 cup.
