Left Over Mince Recipe

Recipe type: beef
Ingredients:
  • 4 - 6 sheets puff pastry
  • Left over meat or other mixture that will make a tasty meal with puff pastry!
Method:
  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
  2. Remove pastry from freezer and separate to defrost.
  3. Just before you want to place the meat mixture onto the pastry, heat the left over meat mixture in the microwave to a warm temperature. (I have found that if you place the meat in too cold, then the pastry cooks but the centre of the filling is not heated through.)
  4. Cut the pastry sheet into four squares.
  5. Place heated left over meat mixture onto one side of the square, allowing room to fold square over and seal edges.
  6. Fold pastry into a triangle and use a fork to seal edges of the pastry.
  7. When I am using more than one type of filling, I make distinctive prick marks with a fork, so we can tell the difference between the Taco and Bolognaise filling.
  8. Place the triangles onto a tray and place in the oven.
  9. Cook for approx 15 minutes or until the pastry has "puffed" and is golden brown.
  10. To add some nutrition to the meal, I serve it up with veggie sticks (capsicum, carrot, cucumber, celery) and some homemade salsa. This is a favourite meal with the kids and they request it regardless of whether there is left overs or not.
