Frozen Banana Ice Creams

Recipe type: desserts
Ingredients:
  • 10 bananas
  • 10 popsicle sticks
  • 200 grams chocolate
Method:
  1. Line trays with baking paper.
  2. From one end of the banana, cut about 1.5cms to leave a flat base.
  3. Insert the popsicle stick into the flat end of each banana. Sticks should go in about half way, so the kids can use the remainder as a handle. (I actually didn't have popsicle sticks when I made them this time. We only had wooden skewers so I just used them.)
  4. Put bananas on tray and freeze for about an hour.
  5. Before taking the bananas out of the freezer, break up chocolate in a microwave safe bowl.
  6. Melt chocolate in the microwave on high for a minute. Stir. If chocolate is not fully melted continue to heat for 15 second bursts until chocolate is fully melted.
  7. Remove bananas from freezer and dip into chocolate. Use a spoon to drizzle chocolate over if this is easier for you. The chocolate sets quite quickly with the help of the cold from the frozen banana.
  8. Place back on the lined tray. When all bananas are dipped, place back in the fridge until chocolate has set. This will take about an hour.
  9. Once choc has set, store the bananas in an airtight container in the freezer until served.
