Recipe type: beef
Ingredients:
  • 3 slices of bread
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 onion
  • 500 grams beef mince
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbs basil leaves dried (fresh would be better, probably about 3 tbs but I didn't have any fresh!)
  • 1 tbs parsley leaves dried (again fresh would be better!)
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 2 tbs olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 500 grams pasta sauce
  • 500 grams spaghetti to serve with
Method:
  1. Remove crusts from bread and then tear into small pieces and place at the bottom of a large bowl.
  2. Add milk and let soak for at least 5 minutes.
  3. Grate onion.
  4. Lightly beat the egg.
  5. Add onion, mince, basil, cheese, parsley and egg to the bread.
  6. Add salt and pepper to taste and use hands to combine meatball mixture.
  7. Roll into small balls and place on a lined baking tray.
  8. Bake for about 30 minutes or until the meatballs are firm and are browning.
  9. Heat oil in a heavy based saucepan.
  10. Fry garlic for a minute or two, then add pasta sauce and bring to the boil.
  11. Reduce heat to very low and add meatballs.
  12. Cook pasta and serve meatballs atop of spaghetti.
