1. Top Artists NGV

We love to jump in the car, park at the Botanic Gardens, take a leisurely stroll through the gardens, walk over the bridge on the Yarra, stop off at one of the many cafes at Federation Square to recharge then visit the NGV Kids Corner to have some fun and get creative. The NGV also hold holiday classes for school aged kids.

Get creative with a fully supervised art class for 9-12 year olds. Meet Top Arts exhibitors and create your own artwork. Find your favourite works in the exhibition and make a related artwork with paint, paper or pencil.

2. Autumn Garden Place Mat Making at the Heide Museum

Heide offers a range of activities for kids and families including artist-led workshops that draw on Heide’s exhibitions, history and gardens. Let your culture vultures let rip these School Holidays with activities just for them.

Children use materials and autumn fruits found in Heide’s garden to print an individualised place-mat fit for a feast. Dress for mess!

3. Gaga Magic Kids Show

Each show is sure to include your favourites.. from “Just Dance”, “Pokerface”, “Bad Romance” to late release “Telephone”. Gaga Magic will be bringing the best of Lady Gaga’s songs, dancing, singing & lots of fun to all different places around Victoria for the April School Holidays.

4. Aprons and Spoons at Gasworks Arts Park

There’s so much going on for your school age kiddos these Holidays. From Funk Hip Hop, Outdoor Cinema, Acting Club to Swordfighting, you’ll find it all at Gasworks. Make and decorate your own apron using a mix of recycled and new products including paints and various fabric off cuts. Use it for cooking or just hang it on the wall along with a matching decorated wooden spoon.

5. Melba Animal Farm Children’s Tiffin

6. Babar the Elephant presented by the Melbourne Recital Centre

We love the story of Babar – the young elephant called Babar who leaves the jungle, visits a big city, and returns to bring the benefits of civilization to his fellow elephants. Then he comes back and becomes king of the elephant kingdom. He then has children and teaches them valuable lessons. Now you and your kids can see Babar the Elephant in Concert!

7. Stencil Art with Alison Lester at the State Library of Victoria

The State Library has a lot more going on than shelves of books. You can play chess, use game consoles, workshop projects with your friends, check out what’s hanging in our galleries, watch films, listen to music, and browse newspapers and magazines and your children can enjoy fun-filled activities in the School Holidays. Join renowned author-illustrator Alison Lester for this special workshop. Learn how Alison uses stencils to create her beautiful illustrations, and make your own stencil illustration. For ages seven and up.

8. Thread Den Kids Sewing Classes – Sling Bag Making

Kids today get to do way better stuff than we ever did when we were growing up! Thread Den offers teens 12+ and younger kids 5+, sewing classes. From sewing basics, sling bags, fashion illustration, crochet, tags for bags, softies, badge making and recycled and retro jewellery, you can be sure of finding a class that suits. During the school holidays, Thread Den offers a great range of sewing classes for kids aged 8 years and up. Develop skills with textiles, add to your folio, or just make something completely unique. Want to make your own bag? Bring along your own special fabric to create a unique bag. Classes are run in Thread Den’s light filled sewing lounges and are led by industry professionals and friendly instructors.

9. Tackers 1 Introduction to fun sailing, Learn to Sail Classes, The Boatshed, Albert Park

10. The Enchanted Maze and Egg-stravaganza
