Last year, our family travelled to NSW to visit my mother. On the way we spent a night in Sydney. As I was planning, where to stay, how to get around and what to do whilst we were there, I wished that I had a friend with children in Sydney who could give me some advice. How easy was it to use the public transport with a baby? Was it worth going to the aquarium or would something else be better given the age of my children? Was there somewhere cheaper we should go, that my children would enjoy just as much?

The idea of Australia With Kids was born. I would ask mums around Australia to share their favourite spots to take children. So, wherever you live and wherever you’re headed in Australia here are some great places to visit with your children.

visit Adelaide with Kirsty (Coffee, Cake and Sunday) and see the only pandas in Australia, touch the ice wall at the museum, take a tram ride to Glenelg Beach or see the Garden of Unearthly Delights during the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

visit Brisbane with Cath (SquiggleMum) and ride the City Cat, play at the Roma St Parklands, visit the theme park worlds or explore local rainforests, bushland, mangroves or wetlands.

visit Canberra with Jane (Kidaddle) and enjoy the bush at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, discover science at Questacon, experience history at Lanyon, ride the miniature train at Weston Park or brave the hustle and bustle of the Old Bus Depot Markets.

Australia With Kids - Darwin
visit my hometown Darwin and hand feed the fish, see some crocodiles, meet the NT’s unique wildlife at the Territory Wildlife Park or take a dip at Leanyer Water Park.

visit Melbourne with Nicole (Planning With Kids) and immerse your children in the arts in Federation Square, explore the St Kilda Precinct, discover farm life at Collingwood Children’s Farm or play in the Children’s Garden at the Royal Botanical Gardens.

visit Perth with Christie (Childhood 101) and go to the beach, wander around Fremantle, visit some fabulous parks and playgrounds or explore the Perth Zoo.

Australia With Kids - Sydney

visit Sydney with Ramona (Learning Activities) and experience China Town, take a ferry ride on Sydney’s beautiful harbour, visit a museum or spend the day at Taronga Zoo.

visit Tasmania with Veronica (Sleepless Nights) and play int the parks, feed the animals at Bonarong Park, enjoy the Botanic Gardens and see the Salmon Ponds.

Are you inspired to see Australia with your children? I certainly am!
