Recipe type: birthdays
Ingredients:
  • 200gms block white chocolate
  • 250 gms marshmallows
  • Pink Food Colouring
  • Assorted sprinkles for decorating
  • 40+ lollipop sticks
Method:
  1. The kids pushed the marshmallows onto the sticks. So that they are stable you need to push the stick through the centre and as far as you can into the marshmallow without it poking out the other side.
  2. They then broke up the white chocolate into a microwave safe bowl and placed it into the microwave on high for 1 minute. We took it out after that, stirred and then repeated this for 15 second bursts until the chocolate was melted.
  3. We added a few drops of pink food colouring and gave it a thorough stir. The kids then dipped the marshmallows into the chocolate so the top of it was covered. Then lifting it slightly up, they spun the stick to flick off any excess chocolate.
  4. We had four different types of sprinkles in small glass bowls and the kids used their fingers to sprinkle the marshmallow with their desired topping. I had them do this over the bowl, which they did, but we still ended up with sprinkles all over the place!
  5. Using a heavy glass, they placed the lollipops into it, so the chocolate could set. Once we had filled the glass, we placed it into the refrigerator and they were ready to eat within about 30 minutes. You can put them in the freezer for about 5 minutes to have them set quicker.
  6. With these ingredients we made 40 marshmallow lollipops and we still had 10 marshmallows left over. We could have used a smaller bowl and less chocolate too, as we had a significant amount left over.
Notes:
Apparently you can buy lollipop sticks from Spotlight in the baking/candy making area. We used skewers and cut the sharp end off.
