Kangaroo burgers recipe

This is not only the first time I have cooked kangaroo, but also the first time I have eaten it! I was worried I would find the taste of the kangaroo meat a bit too strong for my liking, so decided to make burgers and plenty of veggies to them.

They were easy to make and I enjoyed eating a different meat. I can get very set in the foods I eat, so it is great to have another easy to make protein based food in my go to list of meals to make.

These burgers reheated well for a few days after as well. While I haven’t frozen them yet, the next batch I make, I will make double and freeze them individually to have as an easy source of protein for my lunches.
 

Kangaroo burgers recipe

Ingredients:
  • 500 grams kangaroo steak
  • 1 onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 zucchinis
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
Method:
  1. In the food processor, grate the onion, carrots and zucchini.
  2. Place grated veggies into a large bowl.
  3. Crush garlic into the veggies and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Place kangaroo meat into the food processor and mince.
  5. Add the kangaroo mince to the veggies and using hands mix it all together.
  6. Shape ⅓ cup of the mixture into a burger. Repeat this step until you have finished the mixture. I made 12 burgers.
  7. Add coconut oil to a large frying pan and heat on a medium high heat. Add the burgers to the pan and cook for around 4 -5 minutes each side.
  8. Remove from pan and serve with a colourful selection of veggies.
