Count down time for school holidays! Term three ends in Victoria on Fri September 21st and as I may have mentioned already, I am looking forward to it. We already have a couple of things planned which I am looking forward to. Here are just some of the fab activities that are on around Melbourne these school holidays.

Cinderella Children’s Tiffin

This is one activity we will be doing and I think I am more excited about it than my daughter!

DescriptionThe Langham, Melbourne is set to enchant young ones this school holidays with a very special Cinderella Children’s Tiffin. Set in the luxurious ARIA Bar and Lounge, the Cinderella Children’s Tiffin will include magical delights such as Kiss the Frog in Jelly, Love Heart Cupcakes, Tiara Cookies, Castle Marshmallow Cones, Fairy Bread and fluffy Scones with jam and cream. The morning tea, in celebration of the release of Cinderella on Bluray and DVD, will leave little ones feeling like special little princesses and princes!

Phillip Island Nature Parks

Nobbies Centre on Phillip Island with kids’ movies on the big screen and daily ranger led activities.

Ladro Pizza Making Classes

You can see a full review our experience at Ladro’s Kids Cooking Classes, but in short we loved it!

Description: The clever kitchen cats at Ladro in Prahran are hosting pizza making classes for kids who like to get their little mits dirty in the kitchen – what kid doesn’t?! Famous for their stellar pizza offering – Ladro will teach kids how to make the pizza base dough, roll it out and top it with some delicious and wholesome ingredients. At the end of the class kids will not only know how to make pizza from start to finish, they’ll take home a home-made pizza, a translation sheet of Italian buzz words and Ladro’s original pizza recipe.

The Wonders of Ancient Mesopotamia

Little Day Out – for BIG imaginations

Description: The Little Day Out is all about fun, friendliness, family, participation, arts and crafts, games and sports, and even more fun!

Imagine an enchanted village of arts and crafts, activities and workshops, with roving performers and live entertainment, delicious variety of food and hand-made goods market stalls, sports and interactive activities, with plenty of opportunities to explore and discover new and wonderful things.

The Little Day Out will feature live music and dancing acts, including:

Wonderland Fun Park

We went for the first time a couple of weekends ago and had a fabulous time. You can read our full review here – Wonderland Fun Park, but during school holidays they have additional activities as well:


Description: This September Holidays the fun of the jungle is coming to Wonderland Fun Park! Check out the amazing Safari Circus Show with Tarzan and Jane flying through the air, banana juggling and monkey madness as Australia’s top acrobats perform acts of daring delight.

Buzz Movie Makers


Description: Buzz Movie Makers was set up as a way to help children and young people get involved in the process of making short films and movies – in whatever capacity they wish. A new, young and vibrant company, Buzz aims to educate and inspire Australia’s next generation of movie makers – whilst having a lot of fun in the process!

When and where:

  • ELWOOD –  Make a short film in 5 days.  Start date –  24.09.2012.  End date  – 28.09.2012 9.30am – 3.00pm. For  Grades 2-6.  Cost $ 300.
  • NORTHCOTE  – Make a short film in 5 days. Start date -01.10.2012. End date  -05.10.2012 9.30am – 3.00pm. For Grades 2-6. Cost $ 300.

They also have various holiday sessions running in Brunswick and Mernda, which can be booked via Ivanhoe Grammar School’s Learning Enrichment Centre. These sessions cost $40 and run for 2 hours, in topics such as ‘Make Your Own Music Video’, ‘Create Your Own Ad’ & ‘Movies & TV’.

Vegecation Spring at Centro Box Hill

Description: Vegecation Spring – a fun and engaging community school holiday activity. This award-winning educational program lets your kids discover just how fun and easy it is to create delicious food from harvest to plate using produce you can grow at home. Kids can take part in the twice daily cooking demonstrations, designed by grassroots children’s cooking school Kids Say Yum. The demonstrations have been designed to teach children not only about the joy of cooking, but also develop other life-skills set in a fun and interactive environment. Kids will then be encouraged to visit the newly opened Vegecation Garden to grab samples of fresh herbs to try in their own recipes at home.
