Four inspirational quotes about creating, taking risks and getting things done.
I have some products I want to create and it is amazing how busy I can keep myself with other activities, so I don’t have to dedicate time to these products. Creating and putting yourself out there is scary. It can easily be pushed to the bottom of the to do list.
I am going to pull my creation tasks to the top of my list after my break. I have found these quotes inspiring – hope you do to!
1).
In a long distance race, everyone gets tired. The winner is the runner who figures out where to put the tired, figures out how to store it away until after the race is over. Sure, he’s tired. Everyone is. That’s not the point. The point is to run.
Same thing is true for shipping, I think. Everyone is afraid. Where do you put the fear?
2).
If you have time and energy to find ideas worth sharing, then you’ve got time and energy to bring ideas of your own to life.
3).
Focus on your own achievements. Set your own goals and spend your energy on something you build, create, or pursue. Can you walk on a tightrope across Niagara Falls? Great. Go ahead and do it.
4).
A mini mantra for entrepreneurs:
This is what I am going to do…
Here is why I am going to do it…
This is the result I am hoping for…
I am not asking for permission. I’m starting today. It’s OK if it doesn’t work out.
What do you want to create?

Perfectly timed. Perfectly said. I just can’t choose which one to put on the ensuite wall!
I love, love, love this Nic. I’ve been feeling incredibly discouraged recently and I think it’s mostly because of the tendency to remain busy with other things, rather than focusing on the creating I want to do (but am terrified to begin).
I’m looking to create my first book by year’s end, but convince myself daily that I have enough to do without adding another task. This is despite the fact that I KNOW it’s what I want to do.
Thanks for the fabulous inspiration, as always. xx
PS. Have you read Stephen King’s “On Writing”? It has changed my life and has some of the greatest tips I have ever seen for getting things started. A fabulous read.
Great quotes Nicole! I especially love Steve Sammartino’s reminder, ‘it’s ok if it doesn’t work out’. (Although hopefully it will!)
I want to create a subscriber gift for my blog, and also have an ebook that I’d love to write. But the second will take me way out of my comfort zone, and so my fear keeps me procrastinating.
I’m still at the point where creating a blog post is a bit scary. Hopefully I’ll move past that soon. Then maybe the other things I want to create will be less terrifying too!!
This is just what I need right now! I’m in the process of starting a business and find myself too often distracted or occupied with other things, which is crazy because when I’m working on the business i find myself often in the wonderful state of ‘flow.’ We just need little reminders constantly inspiring us. Thank you for this post.
And I love Chris Guillbeau book “$100 Start Up”. It’s fantastic and very inspiring.
All my life I’ve been interested in too many things and can get so distracted… pulled in too many different directions… sorry kids!! I do love a list though, a TO DO list and daily reminders. Then a break from it all. Just wrote a post about a book commission, just a wee one, but it’s good to have a deadline imposed by someone else, cos it will get done for sure.
Lovely quotes… mine is… whatever you can feel you really DON’T want to do, for whatever reason, do it first!
This isn’t exactly a motivational quote like the ones you have listed, but it gets me reprioritised whenever things are a bit frustrating or disheartening…
“Enjoy this moment, for this moment is your life.”
Reading these quotes over with my early morning coffee and particularly love the one by Bernadette Jiwa. Thanks for giving me some inspiration to share on my business page this morning
