I have a number of friends (Lou, Justine, Belinda, Laine and Deb are all amazing at this!) who have the knack of using simple household items to make a stunning presentation for a table centre piece or house decoration.
This type of house presentation is not my strong suit, but from observing these clever ladies and blogs that I read, I have come up with some super simple ideas for the table for Christmas or other special occasions. These Christmas table ideas are not expensive and use fairly common items you may have around the house and are great for beginners like me!
Simple Christmas Table Idea 1 – Baubles and Lollies
I bought these beautiful partridge baubles on sale last year for $0.50 each. They are part of my theme for this year. Baubles in simple glass vessels are a great way to decorate a table.
Lollies can also be a fun multipurpose table centrepiece. You can simply choose a lolly and pile them into a bowl in colours that suit your theme.
I bought these glass vases from IKEA. They came in a set of three for only $19.99. As well as the clear colour I bought, they also come in a vibrant blue.
I don’t own many tablecloths and when trying to find a way to decorate the table which fits with my theme without spending heaps of cash, I have found a strip of wrapping paper down the middle of the table can work really well.
Simple Christmas Table Idea 2 – Candles and Lollies
Tea light candles are a budget friendly and versatile table decoration. Red and white is one of my fave colour combos regardless of the celebration and it does look really festive for Christmas.
I have used massive Jaffa type lollies with sixlets to contrast size and colour.
SImple bunting, either bought (in my case!) or homemade can also be use around the table to add to the festiveness.
Simple Christmas Table Idea 3 – From The Garden
When we bought our house we were super lucky to have bought from someone who loved gardening. Year round we have all sorts of flowers popping up, none of which I can actually take credit for!
The flowers used here are from our Magnolia trees, they just seemed to sprout over night and have a very strong smell.
I picked up the trays and the glasses (used as vases) cheaply at IKEA. Both of which will be used frequently after their life as a table centrepiece!
