Berry Smoothie

My kids love smoothies. They also adore raspberries, so a berry smoothie made with raspberries is their idea of heaven. There are 1000 ways to make a berry smoothie, but this is a tried and tested favourite in our house.

Berry Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups frozen raspberries (of course you could use fresh if you have them)
  • 1 banana
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 200gms natural yoghurt
  • 2 tablespoon honey

Method:
Berry Smoothie - banana
Peel and chop banana and place into jug or mixing bowl.

Berry Smoothie - raspberries
Roughly chop raspberries and add to jug.

Berry Smoothie - yoghurt
Add yoghurt, honey and milk to jug.

Berry Smoothie -blender
Use a stick blender to mix ingredients.

Berry Smoothie
Serve and enjoy!

What are your favourite ingredients to add into a smoothie?

Yum looks great! nice and healthy!
You mentioned popcorn recently, was just wondering if were able to tell me which popcorn maker you have? and do you use just the normal popcorn from the supermarket?
Hope your enjoying the lovely Melbourne summer

Yes I just buy the corn kernels from the supermarket. Our popcorn maker is the Breville Crazy Popper (it isn’t really crazy!) http://www.breville.com.au/crazytm-popper.html.

We were given it as a gift from my m\um a few years ago as a joint Christmas present – we love it.

I always love a good old banana smoothie with honey, natural yoghurt and a bit of cinnamon. It has to be real banana though, and not that horrible fake essence!

During summer, a mango smoothie goes down a treat too.

Cinnamon would be a great touch!

i make ours with apple juice instead of the milk, it sweetens it. we usually have blueberry and banana. i put probiotic powder in (or beak open a capsule if you dont have the powder) and sometimes sneak in a half tsp of supergreen powder or spirulina as well, and a tsp of flax oil to make it a super health shake. my kids (2 and 3 yrs) love it with their breakfast.

That certainly is a health shake!

Smoothies are the perfect morning tea, I think. I do a mean banana and blueberry one and I throw in a handful of oats for extra nutrition and creaminess. Delish! x

Someone suggested toasted muesli on facebook, so I am definitely going to have to give this oats thing a try!

My kids sneak the frozen raspberries, so sometimes I go to the freezer and only find an empty packet – drives me crazy!

I love smoothies! Just wondering if anyone has tried avocado milk shake? It’s simple to make, nutritious and taste super delicious! You just need 1 avocado, milk, honey and ice. For a little chocolatey taste, you can put in 1 tablespoon of hot chocolate powder :)

I haven’t done smoothies for my kids yet though I am sure they would love them. I always thought it was too much effort. :) Sounds yum- will have to try it!

Just made a mixed berry smoothie for my 4 year old – his first ever smoothie – his comment was “thank you mummy for my cold yummy drink”
