EDIT 24th March 2012 – Please note Cafe Bursaria has moved to our Abbotsford Convent.
On Friday I visited Como House in South Yarra for the first time. I had the pleasure to have morning tea with Jolie from Hey Bambini, Jo from Little Melbourne and Joyce from Tot Hot or Not at the cafe there – Café Bursaria. It was lovely to connect in person with women who I usually connect with only online. We had a lovely catch up and the kids enjoyed themselves too.
I wish the weather had have been nicer so we could have strolled the gardens. Entry is free to Como when visiting the cafe.
Como house is gorgeous and they have a range of activities there through out the year. To find out more check out their What’s On page.
Café Bursaria is situated in a courtyard behind Como House. Had the weather been nicer we could have also sat outside. This would have saved us the glares from a staff member who did not seem to appreciate the toddlers walking around near us.
Inside the cafe itself is very cute. Cafe Bursaria also hosts private functions and would be a great venue.
They serve the essential baby cino and dottie cookie. I had toast which was nice and only a diet coke, so cannot comment if they make good coffee!
They have a great collection of toys in good condition and as you can see, they even have picnic blankets, which if the weather had been warmer and drier the kids could have played on outside.
The toilets have a foot stool and there is also a change table avaiable.
While we enjoyed our time there, if you will need to sit inside, I wouldn’t recommend going in a large group of mums and kids. The tolerance for noise and movement seemed quite low.
If you can sit outside, this would be a great place to meet for a catch up as you can combine something to eat with a beautiful stroll around the garden.
Cafe Bursaria is open over the winter months from Wednesday to Sunday 10.00 am – 4.00 pm.
