I came across L’atelier de Monsieur Truffe via the very fab Hey Bambini – the essential guide to cafe culture for little ones in Melbourne. In Jolie’s review of L’atelier de Monsieur Truffe she says:
Speaking of hot chocolates, now l’m making a bold statement here but l’m sticking to it. L’atelier de Monsieur Truffe serve the BEST hot chocolate l’ve ever tasted, in fact l would believe it to be the best in Melbourne. So there!
And I am so with her on that! Look at this divine number:
I met friends at L’atelier de Monsieur Truffe for morning tea. The cafe is so spacious, light and fresh. Even though there is no windows, you don’t feel trapped or stifled. Lovely high ceilings.
The menu is short but there is one option for kids depending on what time of the day you are there. We were there when breakfast menu was still on so the little ones had bluberry pancakes which were devoured quickly (sausage rolls are the kids item on the lunch menu).
I settled for toast and jam, which came with these very cute pots:
The little ones loved the serving spoons for the jam and honey:
The dinosaurs we brought from home had a good time too! We were on a large communal style table and even with four little ones, managed not to disrupt the others sipping their tea at the other end of the table.
You could partake in chocolate tastings:
L’atelier de Monsieur Truffe sells an exquisite range of chocolates:
There are also little windows where you can watch the chocolatiers doing their thing!
There are some other fine things to buy too:
If you are a lover of chocolate and live in Melbourne, then you must visit this place. The staff were fantastic and very accommodating of the wondering little ones as our stay reached its end. One girlfriend even received super tips for their next family holiday from a lovely staff member. Will definitely be heading back there soon.
