With the first half of 2011 behind us, it is the perfect time to review my personal goals for 2011:
10 Goals for 2011 | Progress | |
---|---|---|
1. | Launch new blog and realaunch two smaller ones, together by end of March. | I had a soft launch in March and have been progressively updating them, so this one is completed! You can see them here: Nicole Avery Blog Coaching Boost |
2. | Go to the gym 4 - 5 times a week. | Have been getting there 5 sometimes even 6 times a week. Has been brilliant for keeping me going in busy times. |
3. | Go to the Aussie Bloggers Conference in Sydney, on March 19. | Organised, attended and spoke at Aussie Bloggers Conference. It was a fabulous day. |
4. | See a band once a quarter with my friends. | Uncompleted! |
5. | Go out to dinner once a quarter with the family. | We haven't been going any where fancy, but we have been heading out to dinner as a family. |
6. | Take the family bush walking twice through out the year. | We have our first walk scheduled for next week - weather permitting. |
7. | Have a weekend away with my partner and I (no kids!) by May. | This was not to be for May. I need to reset this goal so it happens before the end of October. |
8. | Host one dinner party for 8 by the end of the year. | Have not tackled this yet. Will do so in the warmer months. |
9. | Donate food to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre quarterly. | Am yet to do the second quarter, so need to get on to this. |
10. | Visit or call our Nana’s monthly. | Not precision timing on the monthly thing, but I am in contact with them both much more regularly. |
Reviewing my personal goals for 2011
There are couple more non completed goals than I would look at this point in the year. The main reason for this was my underestimation of time commitments with two key projects:
- Aussie Bloggers Conference
- launching the Planning With Kids Book
These were/are both fantastic experiences for me. I loved being part of the ABC organising committee, but it did take up lots of time! While the book has entailed more work post launch, I feel incredibly fortunate to have the opportunities that have arisen and continue to do as a result of the book being published.
The unexpected for 2011
It is often easy for me to dwell on what I haven’t done, without truly reflecting on what I have actually managed to achieve. So for my own benefit and personal records, I have included a list of key activities I have completed in the first half of 2011 that I didn’t imagine happening at the start of the year:
- appeared on national tv (The Circle) twice
- had my writing published in national magazines
- interviewed for major newspaper articles
- identified and sought solutions to eyesight issues for a number of our kids
- persisted in finding causes and solutions for a learning issue for one of my children
- being a speaker and a number of key events in my blogging niche
- conducted my first book store appearances
- took the family on a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland
Where to from here!
These achievements did come via a reduced amount of sleep though, something which I am aiming to remedy for the second half of the year. I have found when I get very busy, it can become a habit to stay that way. Backing off and reducing my commitments can be a struggle.
Often the best thing for me to do is to take an online break, which is what I am going to do next week. My posts will go up as normal with associated auto tweets for the posts and the Aussie Mummy Bloggers Daily and I am going to spend a week at home with the kids on school holidays having fun and just hanging out. Not checking emails, facebook or twitter!
So how has 2011 been for you? What have you achieved that was unexpected?
