Fruit Kebabs With Marshmallows
Well these should probably be called strawberry and marshmallow kebabs! When we made these, we had only been home a short time after being away for Christmas. The cupboards were pretty bare, but I knew I had marshmallows. We need to make these pretty quickly as we were heading out, so I bought a punnet of strawberries and kept it simple. They may not have been the healthiest fruit kebabs but they looked pretty!

Fruit kebabs are also a perfect activity for the kids to do over the school holidays :) .

Fruit Kebabs With Marshmallows Recipe

Obviously you can use a variety of fruits for to make fruit kebabs. Fruits that work well are:

  • Strawberries (not the really large ones)
  • Kiwi Fruit
  • Grapes
  • Banana (if you are eating them straight away)
  • Rock Melon
  • Honey Dew
  • Watermelon

And then you need marshmallows and wooden skewers.

Method:
Fruit and Marshmallow Kebabs

  • As we started with marshmallows first, we found the marshmallows stuck to the wooden skewers and went out of shape. To prevent this, run the skewer under cold water first, pat dry and then thread the marshmallow. It should thread cleanly then.
  • Thread hulled strawberries next and continue the pattern until the skewer is 3/4 full.
  • Cut off the point of the skewer with scissors.
  • Place on platter ready to eat!

It’s amazing how fruit on a stick is so much more attractive to kids! We use paddlepop sticks instead of skewers, just a bit less likely that someone may lose an eye ;-)

Sometimes when we make these, we dribble melted chocolate over the top!
