Thanks to all those who entered the Mums Card Give Away, the competition has now closed.
It is only a matter of weeks before the new school year starts. For our family the start of the 2010 school year brings the following:
- Babaganouski starts 3 year old kinder.
- Baby will start one morning (9am -12pm) occasional care.
- New teacher and class for Thinker in Year 6.
- New teacher and class for Little Rascal in Year 3.
- New teacher and class for Possum in Year 1.
That adds up to meeting a lot of new faces, not only for the kids but for me also. This year when I meet their teachers, attend the the welcome morning teas and plays in the park, I will be a little more prepared than usual.
When the lovely Tanya from Mums Card asked me would I like to try out her fabulous range of personal contact cards, I though instantly how much easier it would be to have a card to hand over with my details at these events. It will make it easier to arrange play dates and as it has my blog’s website address, it will also be a subtle little way to give it a plug!
Ordering the cards was incredibly easy. I chose a design, entered the info that I wanted on the card and placed my order! The website has a great section with examples of what text you might like to have on your card and tips about what info will be most relevant for each particular type of card:
- Single Sided Mums Card – Contact details and children’s name and ages.
- Family Card – Contact details on one side, then family members names and mobile numbers on the other.
- Aged Card – Contact details on one side. Known illness (eg age-associated memory and hearing impairment), who to contact in an emergency and doctor’s name on the other.
- Allergy Card – Contact details on one side, allergy details, immediate treatment and emergency contact person on the other side.
My cards look very professional! They are printed on 300gsm satin gloss card, are the size of a normal business card (90mm x 55mm) and came in the gorgeous shiny tin, as seen in the photo above.
Give Away
Mums Card is offering readers of Planning With Kids (Australian residents only sorry), the opportunity to win a set of 50 Mums Cards. To enter all you need to do is:

Hi PQ, Love the *7.1 Flower design*. Actually I’ve had personal ‘business’ cards printed up ever since I stopped work because it can just be so much handier – but this is even better, especially if your children have allergies etc!
I love this idea and will be posting about it on my blog!
I wont enter though.

since one of my 2010 goals is to be more proactive in meeting the parents at school and setting up playdates for the kids this will be perfect for us
i love 3.1 Circling Aqua WBG
I love the 3.1 Circling Aqua WBG. These are gorgeous, but I have to admit I’m struggling with the concept of handing them out. Anyone else feel like that?
I think this is a brilliant idea. I like Colour My Card Vertigo Green.
I must admit I feel okay handing these out. I only will to those I am arranging playdates, etc with.
I think it is especially good for kids with allergies as it reminds the host. My 4 year old has asthma so it is really handy for letting other parents know.
Thanks for the chance!
I adore 6.0 daisychain and although I do feel a little funny handing them out, I know its just so much easier than scrabbling to find a pen and scratching down email addresses on scraps of paper!
Super Sarah´s last blog ..Success!

What a fabbo idea! I love the 6.2 Daisy Chain CBG, Single Sided, in the orange as shown.
Thanks for the link, will be sure to forward it on to friends that might be interested.
This would be great – I’m always hunting for phone numbers for other families … so it would be good to help them find us. Like the idea of including the blog too. I like Sticky People 9.1.

I love the Striped 2 Children – I actually printed out someof my own as it is a great idea but to have some profesional ones with my 2 gorgeous girls on it – that would be lovely

I have loved Mum’s Cards ever since I saw them on SquiggleMum’s blog a while back. I would choose the Colour My Day Vertigo in orange.
I love 6.0 Daisy. What an awesome Idea! I would on the lookout for the first opportunity to hand them out to mums at school etc. Sure, I might look a little out of the ordinary whipping out cards at the first sniff an introduction, but they are SO cute. Thanks

I love these! I always hand over a handwritten scrap piece of paper with my contact details when I drop my children off at a friends house.
Just in case my child gets hurt or prehaps they just want to send them home early!
My favourite design was 7.0 Flower, I love the colour. It’s design stands out and shouts!
I showed my son and he picked 1.2 Elephant CBG – cause it looks like our car – which he calls the big grey elephant!
He will start Prep this year and I think these will be handy to have to hand out to new friends Mum’s instead of scrabbling for pen and paper all the time.
Great timing as I was thinking of getting some of these. I like 3.2 Circling Aqua CBG.

I love 6.2 Daisy Chain CBG!
A simple and effective way of providing contact details to other parents…or to stick in your child’s pocket/wallet when on an outing incase they get lost and need to inform of a contact number.

I really like 2.0 Circling Pink would like it even better if it were called 2.0 Circling iPink!lol
What a fantastic idea! The cards and designs are so bright and fun. Perfect for those times I can’t find a pen and notepaper.
My favourite is 2.1 Circling Pink.
I am sold! I like the elepants & nothing like being an organised, friendly fuss free mumma
We like the elephants too.
What an inspiring idea, I had to convince my husband, he told me I wasn’t a businesswoman, but he was sold when I reminded him about a couple of ocassions that went awry, cards like these could have reduced my anxiety.
I really like the 6.0 Daisy Chain. I think they are a great idea as well. I have given my work card to people, but it’s sooo much more relaxed to give them a Mums Card instead.
Have seen this around but not in Australia. I plan to see whether people are interested in it as a fundraising option at my local kindy – keep up the good work!
Pink Circle.
6.2 Daisy Chain CBG are gorgeous, such a great idea. They are a great concept, and when do we ever have a pen and paper handy!
