Lego City Helicopter Transporter

We have a massive tub of Lego at our house, so when I was asked if I would like to review the new Lego Helicopter Transporter which is part of the Lego City range, I knew my kids would be ecstatic.

Lego City Helicopter TransporterAs a parent I think I love Lego as much as the kids do, but probably for much different reasons than they do:

  • They learn to follow step by step instructions. Children can be very impetuous and want to dive head on into things. With Lego though, they know that to build their vehicle they need to concentrate and follow the instructions as laid out.
  • There are many small pieces of Lego in the kits and for my boys who are too old to do threading etc, it is a great way for them to practice fine motor control.
  • It is an activity that they can work on together or solo, depending on their mood.
  • It is a “quiet” activity. As mentioned in my post earlier this week, it is a great way for tired children to amuse themselves.
  • Once they have built the Lego item by following the instructions, they can they use their imagination and creativity to build all sorts of wonderful things.

Thank you for your interest. The competition has now closed. Winner will be announced Saturday 12th Dec.

The kids worked together on the Helicopter Transporter Set and had construction sessions over a couple of nights after dinner. They were so excited to have it finished and when one of my 8 year old’s friends visited, he exclaimed “ahh that’s sick!” as soon as he saw it!

Well he, along with all other Australian readers will have a chance to win their very own Lego City Helicopter Transporter (RRP: $59.99). It would make a perfect Christmas present for any child aged 5 – 12.

Lego City

It grows imaginations and encourages little hands to make something big. Big hands like to make things with Lego too as I discovered with my husband’s old housemate who had the biggest Lego collection I had ever seen!

  • Ryan December 06, 2009 at 4:46 pm

I grew up with lego and now I can’t wait to share it with my kids (and maybe even reminisce myself).

Who would have thought that small plastic bricks that stick together would bond families for so many generations? Lego would have to be one of the greatest recreational/developemental inventions of all time!

    LEGO = ALWAYS AWESOME

  • Kim Green December 06, 2009 at 5:38 pm

It doesn’t matter how old your children are they still love to play with lego – it’s timeless.

Lego is the only toy on the planet that will teach you the important skill of looking where you walk!! I played with it as a kid, and still do now even though i’m a big kid!

  • Paul Templeton December 06, 2009 at 9:28 pm

It matters not that there are at least 9 kids in my home plus friends or that they are aged from baby to teen, Lego keeps them busy, challenged and happy more than long enough for me to grab a hot coffee!

  • cheryl December 07, 2009 at 1:26 pm

it inspires my kids creativity and they use their free time ‘constructively’ instead of destructively!

  • Laura C December 07, 2009 at 1:32 pm

The eternal toy, loved by little kids everywhere (and big kids too!)

  • Lisa December 07, 2009 at 1:43 pm

    Lots of
    Enjoyment
    Great
    Objects!

  • Carolyn December 07, 2009 at 5:52 pm

Lego provides my three boys with an opportunity for quiet constructive play in this “hurried” world we live in. I must admit I am happy to chill out on the floor or kitchen table with them as an excuse to build….and might I say what a sense of accomplishment it is for the kids when they complete the Lego!

  • Donna Law December 07, 2009 at 5:59 pm

Lego is an activity enjoyed by thousands everywhere, has brought many generations together, but best of all provides hours of entertainment for children who are only limited by their imagination and the number of blocks they have.

  • Denise Visciglio December 07, 2009 at 6:01 pm

My 3 young boys work together as a team when they construct many wonderful things out of lego. Sibling bickering ceases momentarily…it’s bliss!

  • Kirsty December 07, 2009 at 8:00 pm

    Hours of fun for everyone.

  • Gayle Wallace December 07, 2009 at 9:24 pm

I remember Leggo when i was a kid . loved it then , and my kids love Leggo now . Leggo is truly timeless and only limited by any childs imagination

  • Sarah Bradbrook December 07, 2009 at 10:01 pm

Endless fun, as only the imagination can limit what can be built. The same lego i played with, my kids play with!

  • Kayleen Commens December 08, 2009 at 6:51 am

My son loves Lego the best,
It puts his mind to the test.
Lego could start his brilliant career,
As a builder or even an engineer.

  • Lea December 08, 2009 at 8:47 am

    No boundaries no limitations
    has my daughter’s imagination
    Lego understands that with flexibility
    creations should fulfill their fantasies

  • Bob December 08, 2009 at 8:58 am

From little things big things grow
    imagination – children – lego

  • Chloe December 08, 2009 at 9:30 am

Lego are super fun, because not only can you make the design in the instructions, you can design and play with your own models, and you can change it when ever you like. You can also combine them with lego you already have. My little Brother absolutly loves his lego.

  • cassie December 08, 2009 at 12:44 pm

its great to see kids being creative and making new and exciting things

  • tracy procter December 08, 2009 at 1:14 pm

Lego takes kids and teaches them all the way through their childhood – from Duplo all the way through to Bionicals and advanced motorised versions. I am sure Lego is what has developed my 15 year old son’s enthusiasm for an engineering career!

  • Jenny December 08, 2009 at 2:12 pm

Read 50 years of the Lego Brick, brought back so many memories. One of the few toys we had as children, as fun to play with today as it was back then.

  • leanne fisher December 08, 2009 at 2:17 pm

Timeless….for every generation..I keep all lego from when my children were little…great investment

  • john k December 08, 2009 at 2:31 pm

I love Lego and if I used it more often then I would have grown up being able to build things instead of making my brother do it

  • Amy Miller December 08, 2009 at 2:46 pm

  • Lee December 08, 2009 at 4:16 pm

Lego is great because of it’s bright colours, gets imaginations going and is almost unbreakable plus it keeps kids of all ages entertained for hours!

  • Joanne Tangira December 08, 2009 at 5:42 pm

Lego creates many problems in our home. Firstly, when my children are playing with lego its so quiet, i can never find them (which is a problem when a hot dinner starts to get cold!)and secondly,-what am i going to do with all the spare time I have not having to entertain them? Ha Ha!Thank you lego. No really,— thankyou

  • Kirsty December 08, 2009 at 7:25 pm

I loved Lego as a child and as I grew up it was put aside in the shed. Now my daughter is old enough we have given my old Lego to her and she loves it. Lego is the ultimate creative toy, and better yet, it is timeless! Just as my daughter now plays with my Legos, I am sure, years from now, her children will too.
