I'm not altogether sure how it's going to work out for us in term 2 when I'm flying solo with my prep child, 3-year-old and newborn. At the moment the preppie and 3-year-old do swimming lessons on Saturday mornings (this one's easy, as their Dad or I can take them while the other parent stays home with baby) and they also do ballet. The 3-year-old's lesson is at the uncomplicated time of 11:30am - I don't anticipate a difficulty there.
But the prep child does ballet at 4pm on a Wednesday ... in a ballet school 20 minutes from home where there is no possibility of sharing lifts ... just at the worst possible time of the day for Miss 3 and the baby. I am having a complicated and protracted recovery from my c-section (at 3 weeks postpartum I am still quite sick, and as weak as newborn kitten, and reliant on my husband, mother and friends to ferry the older children around, do my housework, and generally run things other than the feeding of my infant and the essentials like cooking family meals, reading with my older children and participating in their homework, games and interests).
Frankly, I am not at all convinced I'm going to be able to manage the Wednesday ballet run. I may have to persuade Miss Prep to take a term off ballet. Not ideal I know, but we must do what we must do.
I greatly admire your ability to do it all with your 5. I wish I had this capacity! It seems, sadly, that I don't.

I agree, we've cut down on after school activities as this is Groover's first year at school. Both he and I are exhausted when we do pick ups ... so its just a bit of chill out time in the afternoons at the moment!

Its also good to see what you do with the other kids while you are at activities they arent participating in :) Tips.....none yet we have just started the Prep year.
After reading Kathy Walkers book I have actually kept DD from doing anything much until this year...also being pg and sick etc didnt help.
So this is the first year we have done anything extra since Kinder started.

Thank you soooo much for putting this up!!! They are fantastic tips.
