What a lovely idea having a gallery. My eldest is in a 3 year-old program and we haven't had anything like that, but maybe they do it next year when the children produce more artwork. I have made up a big A3 pocket book of any artwork that has been sent home and rotate special pieces on a display board.

Annie's kinder had an art show on Friday week ago. It was the day father in law passed away but despite the sadness I made it over to the art show with Annie and Heidi. A friend came with us and took pictures of all Annie's art work. Felt it was really important to acknowledge the work Annie had been doing all year.

I use my girls artwork in a variety of ways, gift wrap as I've mentioned before, also once a week I pop a picture one of the girls have done into an envelope with a short note to describe it and post of to my parents or grandmother. Some pictures get laminated and used as special placemats. Every so often hubby will scan their uncoloured line drawings and then colour it in himself on the computer. The girls really love that last one, daddy doing art with them even though he is so often away at work. Then he uses the joint artwork as wallpaper.

Our kids school recently had a Kinder to year ten art exhibition. Every single child in the school (just over 400 students) was represented by a piece of artwork that they had worked on. Some classes presented whole class canvases that each child had drawn/painted/collaged themselves onto. Other classes displayed individual works. There were sketches, paintings, collages, sculptures, self portraits, lanterns, puppets, posters and fabrics. Bead work, woodwork, papermache and recycled materials.

They invited a well known local artist to judge the exhibition, put on a wine and cheese night time viewing for the parents and had an awards ceremony to which the local mayor was invited.

It was an awesome project and one that had all the kids buzzing for weeks. Exhibitions are a lovely way for the kids to show off their creations

Hi PQ,
Our local Kinder has our Annual "Art Show" tonight, showcasing 4 or 5 pieces of each child's artwork throughout the year. There will be displays of clay moulded animals, colour hand stiching onto hessian pieces, self portraits (these are an absolute treat and keepsake), watercolour paintings, crafty pieces to name a few. We at the kindergarten use this night as a 'fundraiser' selling a family ticket to the event, we have lucky dips, bbq, and a few other lost cost activities. It is a terrific 'family night out' atmosphere. The kids are so proud of their pieces and are keen to let everyone know what they have created! Have a great night at your Art Show too!
